The RSP-519 is the first in family of XMC modules developed by Rosta and in compliance with VITA specification 42.0 (“XMC”), VITA 42.3 (“XMC PCI Express Protocol Layer Standard”), standards ANSI/VITA 39-2003 (“PCI-X for PMC and Processor PMC“), ANSI/VITA 32-2003 (“Processor PMC”), IEEE 1386.1 PMC (“PCI Mezzanine Card") and PICMG 2.15 R1.0: ECN 2.15–1.0-001 (10/100/1000 Ethernet MDI Links on PTMCs).

The RSP-519 utilises a Xilinx Virtex-4LX FPGA device packaged in a FF1148 BGA (Ball Grid Array). The Xilinx Virtex-4LX family is available in 40-60-100 variants. The particular device required can be specified at the time of ordering.

The on-board SODIMM connector is able to house upto 1 GB of DDR memory. The FLASH & Config Block and the range of blocks/devices/connectors are connected directly with FPGA allowing a wide set of I/O options by the loading the required IP core into FPGA.

The standard XMC connectors Р11-Р15 provide PCI-X and PCI-Express interfaces, control SMBus and Gigabit Ethernet. Three user defined pins of the P14 connector are connected directly to the FPGA and can be used for various I/O functions including LED indication with Rosta manufactured carrier boards i.e. the RMB-407. A second Gigabit Ethernet port (RJ-45), USB, SATA and RS-232 connectors are located on the front panel. There are also external power and JTAG connectors on-board the module.

The serial control bus (SMBus) is connected to Р14 and the Control Manager block is connected to the SMBus. Therefore it is possible to adjust the FPGA Termocontrol block. The set LEDs are for FPGA and Gigabit Ethernet indication.

The RSP-519 can be used standalone or as a slave with a host-controller . The RSP-519 is supplied with MS Windows XP and Linux drivers.
